IMHA COMPETITIVE TRYOUTS 2009/2010 (view as a .pdf)Once again, the Ilderton Minor Hockey Association is maintaining a $50.00 tryout fee for any player who would like to be considered for a Shamrock, AE or OWHA competitive team. The tryout fee must be received by the player’s first scheduled ice time in order for the player to be considered for a competitive team. The tryout fee provides each player a minimum of three hours of ice time during September. Once the teams have been selected, the competitive teams will receive additional hours during the September ice corresponding to the ice time available for that team.
If your child does not want to try out for a competitive team, then no tryout fee is required and they are invited to come out during the LM ice time in late September corresponding to their age and gender group.
Please thoroughly check the ice schedule for times for the players in your family. (especially the first one). Checking clinics for atom and peewee aged players are open to all players in that age group.
If your child has not yet paid the $50.00 tryout fee and would like to be part of the competitive tryout process, please forward a cheque as soon as possible to the registrar at Box 369, Ilderton ON, N0M 2A0 or bring a cheque to the first tryout session in September.
If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please contact any member of the Ilderton Minor Hockey Association. They will be happy to assist you in understanding the competitive tryout process.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Executive, Ilderton Minor Hockey Association
SHAMROCK HOCKEY
A, A/E, and Girls Competitive Programs
Ilderton Minor Hockey Association enters competitive teams in the Shamrock League from Novice to Midget aged boys and in a competitive girls league for Atom, Bantam and Midget girls. To earn a spot on one of these teams (A or A/E or girls) requires a try-out. To try-out you must pay a try-out fee. The teams are selected by the evaluation committee. Before accepting a position on a Shamrock, A/E or competitive girls team please remember that more time, money, and commitment are required to play.
Try-outs
Skaters will be guaranteed 3 hours of ice. When try-outs start you are either a goalie or an out player. Body checking begins at the boys Peewee programs. Please do not discuss try-outs with the selection committee evaluators. Any questions should be directed to the on ice coordinator. Please respect the efforts and process used by the evaluators. Most evaluators will tell you making selections is the most difficult time of the hockey season.
What to expect after you have been selected for a Shamrock A, A/E or competitive girls team.
Your coach may want you to be at the rink anywhere from ½ an hour to an hour before game time. Your coach may want to enter 3 or as many as 5 tournaments in a season. Coaches will want to be notified as early as possible if you are unable to attend any game or practice. You may be required to attend off ice team building activities and team meetings failure to attend practices or games may result in reduce playing time. Refer to the IMHA Policies and Procedures Manual. Parents will be expected to be clear of the dressing room 10-15 minutes prior to game time to allow the coaching staff time to prepare the players for the game and coaches will usually need 5 minutes after the game to discuss the game with the players.
We hope that this gives you a better understanding of what it means to be part of a competitive team in Ilderton.
